Tokyo Tech Talks #2: Meet the Speakers
Daniel Leuk of Ikayzo will discuss KD, a compact data language, and Mitchell Carroll of Mercari will talk about what gets lost when reality becomes data.
We’re announcing the speakers for Tokyo Tech Talks #2.
This event looks at how reality becomes data. One talk focuses on language and representation. The other looks at what gets lost when we model the world in software.
The Speakers
Daniel Leuk
CEO, Ikayzo
Daniel will talk about Ki Declarative (KD), a compact data language for describing common structures such as values, ranges, lists, maps, trees, and grids. It aims to stay simple while covering a wide range of practical cases. Learn more about KD.
Data representation shapes what software can express and check. Better data languages can make systems easier to read and easier to reason about.
Mitchell Carroll
Senior Product Manager, Mercari
Mitchell will talk about how data is always a reduced version of reality. Every model leaves something out, and those omissions affect how products and systems behave.
Software decisions often depend on data that looks complete but is not. Good systems start with a clear understanding of what the model captures and what it misses.
